I Feel Angry

Genesis 4:7

If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Jealousy is never small. Left unchecked, it grows into something that destroys what we love — but God still pursues even the guilty.

Genesis 34:30

And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

Vengeance always costs more than it pays. When we take justice into our own hands, we lose more than we win.

Exodus 15:26

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Every bitter place can become a song when God shows up. He heals what the wilderness was meant to poison.

Numbers 20:12

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

Obedience in the details matters. One moment of anger can cost a lifetime of promise — but God's mercy still flows.

Ruth 1:16

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Loyalty in loss is holy. Ruth's "I will go" is still one of the most beautiful sentences ever spoken.

1 Kings 21:29

Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.

Greed costs more than it pays. But God is still merciful to those who truly humble themselves.

Nehemiah 5:14

Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.

Real leadership sacrifices for the people, not off the people. Lead by giving, not taking.

Job 21:7

Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

Life is more complicated than simple cause-and-effect. Trust God even when the math doesn't add up.
